How to Apply

Prior to applying, individuals should first consider the Institute’s mission as represented on this website and make sure they understand Georgetown’s information for visiting scholars regarding visas, housing, funding minimums, fees, and campus privileges. See http://internationalservices.georgetown.edu/scholars/j-1/ for more information.

All interested individuals must submit an application that includes a letter of intent, dates for the desired visit, a brief description of their research project and the contribution it will make to ISIM’s research agenda, evidence of funding, and 2-3 letters of reference to Dr. Elzbieta M. Gozdziak, ISIM’s Research Director, at emg27@georgetown.edu.

Letters of inquiry may be sent at any time, but there are two priority deadlines for applications: January 15 for visits starting the following summer (June) or fall and June 1 for visits starting the following winter (January).

We accept applicants based upon the strength of their application package and available space. Preference is given to applications complementing ISIM’s research agenda and/or proposals for collaborative projects. Applicants may be from any country, must have their own funding, process their applications for the appropriate study visa, and arrange for their own housing (we can provide letters of acceptance and guidance).
