Title: ISIM Professor Elizabeth Ferris has been asked to serve on the UN High Level Panel on Internal Displacement

Professor Elizabeth Ferris has been asked to serve as one of four global experts to advise a newly-constituted UN High Level Panel on Internal Displacement.  This High Level Panel, appointed by the UN Secretary-General, will raise awareness about the world’s 41 million internally displaced persons and advocate for solutions to their displacement. It will be co-chaired by Federica Mogherini, the former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and former Vice-President of the European Commission, and Donald Kaberuka, the former President of the African Development Bank and current Chair of the Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

As Professor Ferris has worked on IDP issues for many years, she is delighted at the opportunity to support high-level political efforts to uphold the rights and improve conditions for the millions of women, men and children who are forced to leave their homes but remain within the borders of their countries.
