Jessie Connell is a Ph.D. Candidate with the Mekong Research Group (AMRC) at the University of Sydney. In 2013, Jessie received an Endeavour Research Fellowship to undertake fieldwork in Cambodia and Washington, D.C. While in Washington D.C. she was a Visiting Scholar at ISIM, Georgetown University. Jessie’s research examines involuntary community resettlement in Cambodia, focusing on the accountability mechanisms of international financial institutions and the role of civil society organizations in resettlement negotiations. Her work specifically considers the experiences of project-affected people who are not given the option of relocation and are instead required to adapt to project impacts in situ.
