Jun Duan was a visiting scholar from Chongqing University, China. Before coming to Georgetown, he was an associate professor at the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, at Chongqing University. He has taught and researched subjects on Economics, Management and Translation. Sponsored by the China Scholarship Council, he is currently conducting research on issues arising from the migration of China’s population, with particular focus on the linkages between the internal and the international categories and interest in Brain Gain vs. Brain Drain.
Jun obtained his PhD. in Technical Economics from Chongqing University School of Economics and Business Administration, with a dissertation on labor migration and development of rural China. His research was published in journals such as Population and Development; Agrotechnical Economics; and Journal of Quantitative and Technical Economics. He has also conducted projects on independent innovation in Chongqing and on the regional inequalities of education and income in China.
