Enrique S. Pumar is the Fray Boyle Endowed Professor and Chair of the Sociology Department at Santa Clara University. In 2017, he was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Valladolid, Spain. Professor Pumar serves on various editorial boards and writes frequently about Hispanic migration and communities. He is a Contributing Editor of the Handbook of Latin American Studies published by the Library of Congress.

Dr. Pumar serves on the editorial boards of Sociological Forum, the Journal of Sociology and Theory of Religion, and The Delaware Review of Latin American Studies and is the Consulting Editor for Sociology to the Library of Congress Handbook of Latin American Studies. In 2011-2012, he was the principal researcher for the Latino History Project, the Latino Center at the Smithsonian Institution. In 2009 he co- edited Perspectives in Social Research Methods and Analysis (Sage) and more recently he edited Hispanic Migration and Urban Development (Emerald Press. 2012).

Formerly, Dr. Pumar was the Chair of the Department of Sociology and the Director of the Global Migration and Refugee Studies Program at The Catholic University of America (CUA). He is also a member of the Executive Board of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies at CUA and a non-resident affiliate at ISIM.
