Adam Lichtenheld

Dr. Adam Lichtenheld is the director of the Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) at Stanford University. Adam’s research focuses on forced displacement, peacebuilding, violence prevention, and aid effectiveness. He has conducted fieldwork in Afghanistan, Jordan, Libya, Syria, Turkey, and Uganda. His work has been published in scholarly journals such as International Organization, British Journal of Political Science, Political Geography, and Economics & Politics, and in media outlets including the Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and U.N. Dispatch. Adam has designed and taught courses on armed conflict and forced displacement at Yale University and the University of California, Berkeley. He has served as a consultant for UNHCR, the World Bank, the Danish Refugee Council, and USAID. He holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
