Andrea Cano
Andrea Cano is a graduate candidate pursuing a Master of Arts in International Migration and Refugee Studies, with a concentration in Migration Analytics. Born in Acapulco, Mexico, and raised on Long Island, NY, by her Mexican and Colombian immigrant parents, Andrea has been deeply influenced by her multicultural background. From a young age, she developed a fervent passion for immigration advocacy and human rights.
Andrea completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, where she majored in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a focus on biotechnology and global health. During her time at Georgetown, she contributed to research efforts at the Center for Global Health Science and Security, particularly within the COVID AMP Project. Upon graduation, Andrea continued her work on refugee issues with the Institute for International Migration at Georgetown University. Her dedication to immigration and human rights led her to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in Washington, D.C., where she worked on leadership programs and initiatives aimed at fostering connections and supporting the Hispanic community.
Andrea’s lifelong commitment to immigration reform and the protection of women’s and children’s human rights continues to drive her professional and personal endeavors. She aspires to make a lasting impact in the field, advocating for policies that support and empower vulnerable populations.
