Dilek Cindoğlu

As a sociologist, Dr. Dilek Cindoğlu’s research focuses on the gendered nature of health, labor markets, politics, migration, and sexuality in Türkiye, with broader global implications. She has published on virginity surgeries, medicalization of births, political sex scandals, and labor market discrimination. She is a professor of sociology at Yasar University, İzmir. She was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM), and the Gender Studies Coordinator for Graduate Studies at the Kadir Has University, Istanbul, Türkiye. She received her Ph.D. (1991) from SUNY at Buffalo and her BA and MA from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Türkiye.
